Victim identified in fatal Hanover car crash

HANOVER, VA (WWBT) -

An SUV ran off a Hanover road Thursday morning, striking a tree and killing the driver.

The Hanover Sheriff's Office identified the driver as Willard E. Carpenter, Jr., 65 of Totopotomoy Trail in Ashland, VA. They believe he suffered a medical issue while driving north on Rocky Ridge Road near Winns Church Road around 6 a.m. The car ran off the right side of the road at a slow speed and hit a tree.

    The Hanover County Fire and EMS says the plane slid to the right and off the runway after its landing gear broke.
