CHESTERFIELD, VA (WWBT) - Former Chesterfield Board of Supervisors member Renny Humphrey is in critical condition after being hit while walking on Beach Road.
Police confirmed Monday, Humphrey was struck while crossing the street around 9 p.m. on Sunday. She was taken to the hospital in serious condition, though the injuries are not life-threatening.
Police say charges are pending against the driver of the car.
"Everyone at the county is very concerned about Ms. Humphrey's accident and our thoughts are with her and her family during this difficult time," said Sarah Snead, deputy county administrator for Human Services. "We certainly wish her well and hope for her speedy recovery."
Humphrey represented the Matoaca district of the county for several years. She was the first woman to be named chair of the Board of Supervisors in 1998.
