CHESTER, VA (WWBT) - The Thomas Dale Knights opened 2014 football practice Friday afternoon.
The team is coming off a 6-5 season in which they lost two of their first three games, then won five in a row, only to lose three straight to end the season.
The Knights lost five players to ACL injuries and three to torn labrums last season. This year five of those players are back healthy in training camp.
The Knights return seven major contributors to the offensive side of the ball and eight major contributors on defense.
The team will have to work hard to replace CJ Reavis. The do-everything Reavis is now at Virginia Tech.
The Knights tell NBC12 they will return to traditional Knight power football on offense this year with a strong balance between an experience offensive line and backfield.
