American Idol bus in Downtown RVA

Good morning from Gray. Here's a look at some of the stories you will want to catch before you leave the house on 12 News Today.

Henrico police are looking for two suspects who shot a security guard at a Mechanicsville Turnpike grocery store. We have surveillance video from the Food Lion in the Oak Hill Shopping Center, on Mechanicsville Turnpike where the crime happened.

Plus, the former first couple is back in court today, fighting to have three expert witnesses  testify on their behalf. The government says the McDonnell's "Dreamteam" of expert witnesses should **not** be allowed to testify. That's because prosecutors say the witnesses will explicitly tell jurors what verdict to reach.

Also, clean-Up continues this morning after a massive train derailment in the southwestern part of our state. Hazmat crews had to be called in after 14 cars derailed in Wytheville. There are no reports of any serious injuries.

Today, the Hanover Doctor accused of killing jogger Meg Menzies is due in court.  Dr. Michael Carlson is accused of veering off the road and striking Menzies back in January. An officer says Carlson had slurred speech, red eyes and an odor of alcohol on the scene. Carlson faces a single count of involuntary manslaughter.

Hundreds of singers are preparing to head to downtown Richmond-  in hopes of becoming the next American Idol. The bus will be parked at the Virginia State Capitol building  on Bank Street  between 10th and 12th streets. Auditions begin at 9am and are open to anyone between 15 and 28.
