How to snag an autograph at Redskins training camp

RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) -

Redskins training camp starts in ten days, and when it does, autograph seekers will have to be in mid-season form in order to snag a 'Skins signature.

We tracked down Ed Simmons, a two-time Super Bowl champ with the Redskins and one of the franchise's 80 greatest players, to find out what makes players stop and sign for a fan.

According to Simmons step one is to wear Redskins gear.  After that, call a player by his name, be polite and smile.

Some other tips to getting an autograph include having a pen handy and utilize your smart phone for up-to-the minute rosters and pictures of players.

Fans interested in acquiring an autograph should also consider coming to camp on August 2nd, Fan Appreciation Day.  Yes, it's the most-crowded day on the camp schedule but after that practice every player stays out on the field to sign autographs and last year many players stayed out on the field for over an hour to sign.

Also note that on Monday the Redskins announced that Fan Appreciation Day practice will now start at 10:35 AM as opposed to the original noon start time.

Players will only sign autographs after a practice session.
