Virginia State Police arrested a man Friday in connection with a shooting death in Amelia at a Fourth of July party.

Anthony Lamont Crawley, 35, faces several charges including first degree murder, and four counts of attempted murder.

He is currently behind bars and scheduled to appear in Amelia General District Court on Tuesday in the shooting death of 21-year-old De'aris Lewis. A vigil for the father of a 4-year-old is set for Friday at 7 p.m. at Beamer Field in Crewe, next to the Dollar General store.

Authorities believe others were involved in the shooting and are continuing the investigation.

Family members say the annual Fourth of July field party in the field off Cheathams Road has become infamous over the years.
