Staying healthy at work is taking on a new approach. Doctors are working with employers to craft a health plan to keep their employees on the job and out of the doctor's office.
Occupational Health Clinics go into places of business and breakdown the potential health concerns and then work with the companies to put in policies that keep their team's healthy. By customizing a plan to each individual business, the employees learn how to stay safe in their particular work environment.
Dr. Joseph Andriano is the Medical Director of Occupational Medicine at Chippenham and Johnston-Willis Hospitals. He says this process saves time and money.
"We go on site. We tour them and know what they are looking for. We go through the different job analysis of every employee and we treat those people. We understand exactly what they do."
An additional benefit is that an Occupational Health Specialist ensures compliance with appropriate federal and state worker compensation regulations.
