Investigators say the case resembles a fiction novel - a Silicon Valley engineer is murdered on his yacht in Santa Cruz, and police say a prostitute was caught on camera committing the crime and calmly walking away.
Police say Forrest Timothy Hayes, 51, was found dead from a heroin overdose. When they checked surveillance video on the yacht, they say they saw Alix Tichleman, 26, inject the victim with heroin.
As Hayes was losing consciousness and dying, police say Tichleman was seen in the video stepping over him while sipping a glass of wine and gathering her things.
"Rather than provide first aid or call 9-1-1, Ms. Tichleman proceeds to gather her belongings including the heroin and needles," said Deputy Police Chief Steve Clark. "At one point, she steps over the body to finish a glass of wine."
Detectives now believe she may be connected to at least one other similar death in another state.
On June 28, Tichleman posted to her Facebook page:
"It's really nice to talk with someone about killing sprees and murdering people in cold blood...and they love it too. No judgement. Yay!"
