Powhatan home invasion suspect taken into custody Monday

POWHATAN, VA (WWBT) -

Powhatan authorities now have in custody  a suspect in a string of four home invasions that happened along Anderson Highway on Sunday and Monday.

The suspect, Jarrett Cottle, 19, of Powhatan, now faces four felony counts of breaking and entering in connection to the home invasions that all happened in the 2200-2300 block of Anderson Highway. Cottle also was charged with petty larceny.

Authorities said Cottle is suspected of entering  three different homes on Sunday, July 6. Initial reports said the suspect entered the homes uninvited, and two of the homes were occupied at the time.

According to the Sheriff's office, Cottle stole prescription drugs and any money he could locate in the homes.

Early Monday morning, Cottle is also suspected of entering a home in the Chestnut Oaks subdivision.
