RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) -

An Outer Banks institution is bringing its breakfast delights to Richmond.

Duck Donuts announced Monday on Facebook its first Central Virginia location will open at the Shops at Willow Lawn in the fall.

The store will be the third in Virginia for the beach chain, to go along with its four Outer Banks locations. Ducks Donuts stores are currently open in Virginia Beach and Williamsburg.

The store owner says he opened the first store six years ago and announced plans to come to Richmond back in March.

“We chose to bring Duck Donuts to the Richmond market because of the interest that’s been
expressed by our consumers on social media and through our website,” says Keith Exton, Duck
Donuts Richmond Franchisee Owner. “Willow Lawn stood out as a great location for our first
store due to the proximity of the shopping center to downtown Richmond as well as the West
End. We also really like the ease of parking, renovated plaza and open-air concept of Willow
Lawn. Lastly, a great mix of tenants made it the right choice.”

There's no word yet on the exact opening date.
