The effort to get popular children's show Reading Rainbow back on a screen near you - this time online - has surpassed its goal of $1 million and is less than $200,000 from reaching $5 million.

Levar Burton launched a Kickstarter campaign to raise money to bring back the show for millions of children. The campaign is designed to create a new version of the show available to children who have access to the internet.

On kickstarter.com, supporters pledged anywhere from $5 to $10,000. Pledging money to the campaign gives backers rewards ranging from thanks, to personalized autographs, to having Levar Burton read at a school of your choice. The money raised will be used to bring an unlimited library of interactive books and video field trips to kids everywhere.
