WILLIAMSBURG, VA (WWBT) - A bomb threat forced evacuations at Busch Gardens amusement park early Sunday evening, but the park reopened just before 6 p.m.
NBC affiliate WAVY originally reported that no one was being allowed in or out of the park while police and fire marshals were investigating reports of a bomb threat at the park.
In a statement, Busch Gardens acknowledged that an employee there had received a bomb threat, prompting the park to notify James City County authorities. Guests and employees were escorted out of the England village, and park officials closed the main entrance for about ten minutes. A search of the park did not turn up anything suspicious, the statement said.
While the England village was closed, guests entering or leaving the park were escorted to an alternate park entrance.
