(CNN) – Next week we should know who will be compensated for the General Motors ignition switch recall and how much they will receive.

GM consultant Kenneth Feinberg is expected to present his compensation plan Monday morning.

Feinberg, who is considered a "compensation expert," devised similar plans for victims of the 9/11 terrorist attacks and the Virginia Tech massacre.

It took GM more than a decade after the problem was first discovered to recall the 2.6 million vehicles equipped with the faulty ignition switch.

GM has linked the ignition issue to 13 deaths and 54 accidents, but industry experts believe the real number is much higher.
