NASHVILLE, TN (WSMV) -

Police have identified the man accused of robbing a cashier in south Nashville on Tuesday afternoon.

Metro police released surveillance photos of the crime on Wednesday asking for the public's help in identifying the suspect.

They say this led to the arrest of 42-year-old Robert Wagner, who has previous convictions for theft and fraudulent use of a credit card.

Wagner allegedly went into the Dollar Club at 1913 Nolensville Pike and asked for money for a family member who had been in a car crash.

The cashier said she didn't have any money and says Wagner then left the store.

Police say Wagner returned minutes later, told the cashier he had a gun and demanded money from the register.

Wagner is charged with aggravated robbery and is being held on an $80,000 bond.
