HENRICO, VA (WWBT) -

Henrico police have arrested a man for stabbing his West End roommate during an argument.

Lester D. Williams, 27, faces an aggravated malicious wounding charge in Wednesday morning's attack. His roommate was taken to VCU Medical Center with life-threatening injuries and is now in stable condition.

Police say Williams stabbed his roommate several times at the condominium they shared on Donovan Court. That roommate ended up at a nearby convenience store on Shrader Road, where a customer called for help.

"I woke up to a lot of police, crime scene tape, a lot of police," a neighbor who asked to be anonymous told NBC12.

It's a crime that's shaken up the neighborhood.

"I'm scared. Now, I'm going to lock up my doors," says another neighbor named Angela.

Detectives found Williams at the condo.

"There was a lot of blood drops leading to where he lives," a neighbor told NBC12.

Many people were on their way to work, the gym or school when this happened.

"What goes through my head is I'm usually out doing something early in the morning so it kind of brings concern as to where do I stand when I'm out now," says Tina Flores.  "If it happened in the morning, does it mean it's going to happen anytime?"

Police have not released the victims name or said what led to the argument.  Police say the victim had wounds to his upper body, he is now in stable condition.
