A stray bullet just misses children sleeping in their beds in Eastern Henrico and the shooter has not been caught.
Late Friday, multiple shots were fired outside the 3500 block of Bolling Road near East Laburnum Avenue. The children are okay, but two men were hit.
The brothers were sleeping; their two sisters and grandmother were in another room when shots were fired. The grandmother says something told her to tell her grandsons to lie down instead of playing video games. A short time later a bullet came through the wall, whizzing by their heads.
That bullet went through the closet door and through some clothes. It ripped four holes in a sweater and tore apart a pair of pants. Its crimes like this that has this neighborhood living in fear.
Neighbors say a group of people was standing outside these apartments near Glenwood Farms when somebody started shooting. Two men were hit but survived. Investigators took 20 shell casings as evidence, according to the email sent to the neighborhood crime watch group.
While the grandmother does not know who did this, she is too afraid to even talk about it on camera. But says if she had done anything different, she believes one of her grandsons would have been hit by this bullet.
This isn't the only shooting that endangered a child living here. Neighbors say a bullet almost hit an eight year old girl several months ago.
An email out to the neighborhood watch group says the victims are reluctant to cooperate with police. If you know anything that could help call Crime Stoppers at 780-1000. The next neighborhood Crime Watch meeting for this area is June 30 at 7pm at the Eastern Henrico Recreation Center.
