State police investigating hit-and-run that caused I-64 crash in Henrico

State police are looking for the driver of a dark-colored vehicle that caused a four-vehicle crash on Interstate 64 Wednesday afternoon and fled the scene.

At 5:20 P.M. Wednesday, Virginia State Police responded to the scene of a four-vehicle crash on I-64 West at Glenside. The crash closed all three travel lanes for about two hours, although traffic was able to pass by on the right shoulder.

Witnesses at the scene reported a black or dark blue SUV/Jeep with a partial Virginia tag of VAG struck a Saturn traveling west which in turn caused it to hit and strike a Isuzu SUV, causing that vehicle to spin out and strike a Honda. Witnesses also reported the driver of the hit and run vehicle appeared to be talking on a cell phone at the time of the crash.

The driver of the Saturn was transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. State police said the crash scene reopened to traffic around 7 p.m.
