NBC12 News at 11 honored with Emmy award

SILVER SPRING, MD (WWBT) -

The National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences National Capital Chesapeake Bay chapter honored WWBT with an Emmy award Saturday night.

NBC12 News at 11 was named Best Evening Newscast in central Virginia. Sabrina Squire, Curt Autry, Ryan Nobles, director David Scott, producer Eric Blackstock, and Assistant News Director J.W. Barnes all took home honors.

NBC12 was also recently honored with two prestigious Edward R. Murrow Awards. NBC12 took the top award in our region, for overall excellence, and was also given an award for breaking news coverage.

Earlier this year, the NBC12 News team was also honored by the Virginia Associated Press as Outstanding News Operation of the Virginias. The station also received awards for breaking news coverage, investigative reporting, in-depth reporting, sports coverage, and best station editorial.

NBC12 On Your Side was awarded the Douglas Southall Freeman Award for community service.
