Maybeury Elementary School dismissing at 9:30AM due to power outage

HENRICO, VA (WWBT) -

A Henrico elementary school is dismissing early after it lost power from a slow-moving storm that rattled Central Virginia Thursday morning.

Maybeury Elementary School's electricity was cut off due to a utility pole that was impacted by an overnight storm. The surrounding neighborhood has no power. Students are going to school on time, due to the timing of the incident, according to Henrico Schools spokesman Andy Jenks.

Henrico County Schools are working with power crews to determine when electricity will be restored. The school is dismissing at 9:30 a.m.  Buses will be available for students who normally ride the bus home.

A 5th grade ceremony has been postponed until Friday as a result of the incident.
