HOPEWELL, VA (WWBT) -

Hopewell Police are looking for a mother and her boyfriend after a 3-year-old was injured in an accidental shooting.

It happened at a home in the Thomas Rolfe Court public housing complex Monday. Police say the gun was fired by the victim's twin brother, hitting the boy in the backside. He is in the hospital in stable condition.

Police are now looking for the mother and her live-in boyfriend.

Reashonda Sharelle Jones, 28 has been charged with two counts of felony child neglect, filing a false police report, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

Lewis Walter Jones, 29, has been charged with two counts of felony child neglect, obstruction of justice, and evidence tampering.

"It's heartbreaking to put these kids in that type of environment where they have accessibility to a loaded handgun and possibly accessibility to dangerous drugs in this household," said Hopewell Police Chief John Keohane.

Anyone with information about their whereabouts is asked to call Hopewell/Prince George Crime Solvers at 541-2202.
