Nothing suspicious found at 2 evacuated Mechanicsville Kroger stores

MECHANICSVILLE, VA (WWBT) - Hanover Sheriff deputies say nothing suspicious was found at either of two Kroger locations in Mechanicsville evacuated by bomb threats.

Deputies swept both stores and gave the all clear. Store management has allowed both stores to reopen. Investigators remain the stores as they continue the investigation.

The bomb threats were called in to Kroger employees at the two stores, who alerted sheriff deputies. The first call came in around 3 p.m. to the store on Mechanicsville Turnpike near Creighton Parkway. The next came in at 3:15 p.m. at the store on Atlee Road near Chamberlayne Road.

Police evacuated both buildings and brought in bomb-sniffing dogs to help officers sweep the stores.
