Missing Hopewell teen found safe

HOPEWELL, VA (WWBT) -

A Hopewell teen that went missing a week ago has been found safe, according to Hopewell Police.

Caleb Brinson's family made an emotional plea after the teen walked away from his grandfather's home a week ago, then vanished. Hopewell Police says Colonial Heights officers located Brinson in their city.

During the search, detectives investigated whether Brinson, 18, could have left for North Carolina, where he also has family, but he did not have a phone or wallet so police and his family initiated the search.

"I just want to know he's OK," said Caleb Brinson's mother, Jami Brinson. "If he'd just let us know that, I'll be content with that. I want him to come home, but if we could just know that he's OK."

Her husband Shane wanted the same.

"Nobody's seen him, he hasn't called anybody in almost a week so now it's - he's missing," he said.

Police say they are currently working on reuniting Caleb with his family.
