Colonial Heights police arrest two men in connection to robbery, shooting

COLONIAL HEIGHTS, VA (WWBT) -

Colonial Heights Police have arrested two suspects wanted in connection to a robbery and malicious wounding that occurred Monday in the 100 block of Biltmore Drive.

Derek Alphonso Jackson Jr. was charged with two counts of robbery, conspiracy, and the use of a firearm in the commission of a felony. Nicholas Colburne-Garrett was charged with two counts of robbery, malicious wounding, conspiracy and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony.

The vehicle that the suspects were driving was stopped for a speeding violation shortly before the shooting call was dispatched. The two subjects in the vehicle were quickly linked as involved in the area shooting.

One victim, who was shot, was transported and after undergoing surgery is now recovering. Both suspects are being held with no bond. Both suspects have also been linked to another robbery that took place on May 1in the 400 block of Norwood Drive, where police said a 93-year-old woman was robbed. Charges in that case are pending.
