Former Stafford man awaits extradition in Fla. on 111 sex-related charges

STAFFORD, VA (WWBT) - A former Stafford County man has been charged with multiple sex crimes committed against minors while he was a Stafford resident in the 1990s.

Thomas Francis Villacres, 53, of Rockledge, Fla., was recently indicted by a Stafford County grand jury. The indictment details 111 counts altogether -- 48 counts of aggravated sexual battery, 48 counts of indecent liberties with a minor while in a supervisory role and 15 counts of object penetration.

In cooperation with the Stafford County Sheriff's Office, Villacres was arrested last night by the Brevard County Sheriff's Office of Brevard County, Fla., without incident.

He is currently being held without bond in Florida and awaiting extradition.

Authorities said Villacres came to the attention of the Stafford County Sheriff's Office after information about the alleged abuse came to light while Villacres was undergoing a routine background check with the federal government. Federal authorities alerted the Sheriff's Office and Det. Pat Tudor initiated an investigation.

The offenses occurred over an eight-year span in the 1990s involving four female juveniles who were ages 6-10 at the time of the assaults. The victims are now in their mid-20s, authorities said.
