HENRICO, VA (WWBT) - Milk deliveries are set to resume Monday, June 2 at some Henrico County Public Schools.
Milk distribution was halted last week when several students complained of nausea after drinking milk that had been served in schools last Wednesday and Thursday.
In a statement to parents Sunday night, school officials said School Nutrition Services worked to secure a different provider for the milk. The school administration cautioned that the new provider will be targeting the schools that have the highest demand for milk service during breakfast and lunch, so not all county schools may begin receiving the new milk shipments on Monday. Henrico parents should plan accordingly if this is a concern, the statement said.
The county said it expects all of Henrico's 72 schools and program centers will start receiving the new milk shipments by later this week. Juice and water will continue to be available as an alternative.
The county's original milk provider, Marva Maid, acknowledged last week that milk it had provided to the county turned out to be spoiled.
