1 victim still critical after fatal Chester house fire

Two adults remain in the hospital, one in critical condition, after a deadly house fire in Chester on Sunday morning.

Two children injured in the fire have both been released from the hospital and one of the remaining adults is expected to be released.

The fire started in the early morning hours Sunday in the 4100 block of Hamlin Court. Firefighters found heavy smoke and fire coming from both sides of the house. The fire started in a flower pot on the front porch that contained smoking materials, then spread up the side of the home, causing significant damage.

Six people were inside the home, including two children. Five occupants were able to get out on their own. One person jumped from a second story window.

Crews rushed five people to VCU Medical Center, where one of the victims was pronounced dead.
