RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) -

The Department of Game and Inland Fisheries and the Virginia Marine Resources Commission has announced free fishing days during the first week of June.

Fishing without a license is allowed on June 6, 7, and 8 this year. No license will be required for rod and reel fishing, except in designated stocked trout waters. Fishing regulations, including size, season, catch limits, and gear restrictions, will remain in effect.

"We have some of the best rivers, lakes and streams for fishing in the country, and we would love it if the non-fishing public would give it a try,'' said Bob Duncan, Executive Director of the Virginia Department of Game and Inland Fisheries.
