RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) - Mayor Jones is pulling the Shockoe Development plan. That means there will be no vote Tuesday night. This move does not mean the proposal is dead, but now the mayor has the ability to reintroduce it at a later date.
Five Richmond City Council members were prepared to vote "no" to Mayor Dwight Jones' plan to bring baseball and other development to Shockoe Bottom.
Mayor Jones says the main reason for withdrawing the plan is that council hasn't had all the information, in it's entirety.
"We would like, very much, for all citizens who came to more than 50 public information sessions to be able to be respected enough to have council hear the entire program," Jones said.
Jones says this is the best plan on the table right now.
"We want city council to hear and see the latest information," he said. "I believe I am doing the right thing."
