Items stolen from Chesterfield car crash victim's memorial

When David Stefano found out items at his brother's memorial were taken, it was like losing his younger brother, Tony, all over again.

"Putting this up, we are just remembering him and honoring him. And so when somebody came down here and took everything that they knew, a memorial for not only someone who lost his life but gave his life to so many people," Stefano said.

Tony was an organ donor whose organs helped more than 60 people after his BMW ran off Old Hundred Road, hit an embankment and flipped several times.

"This memorial is not just a representation of a life that has passed on but it also helped his family to move through the grieving process and now that has been defied and to me that is senseless," said David's fiancee, Monica.

A flag, a small fence, and pictures are all gone. While we were with David and Monica they discovered that flowers planted by family members had been killed.

Tony was 22 when he died. He once planned on a career in the Army. Before his death he had made steps towards becoming an FBI official. His family will never see that dream come true but found peace in this memorial.

"I'm praying for the individuals that whoever it is will have the peace and God's blessings that also they would have the right frame of mind to at least come back and drop everything off right here," Stefano said.

The family has been talking with police and the county about the missing items. At last check there was no word on if any of the items had been turned into police.
