Earlier this week, I visited the Virginia
Holocaust Museum for the first time since the museum was founded in 1997. Shame
on me! But my visit did illustrate the power of making and accepting an
important invitation.
Many of us truly feel that we know all we
know to know about the Holocaust, and unfortunately many others don't know
anything at all. If you fall in either category, The Virginia Holocaust Museum
is a must visit. The primary mission of the museum is to educate the world-wide
community about the historical and personal realities of the Holocaust through
its permanent exhibitions and programs.
The Museum's commitment to, Tolerance Through Education, defines its goal to combat anti-Semitism, racism, prejudice,
fear and hatred with knowledge, understanding and acceptance.
Unfortunately, we still live in a world of
modern genocides and a visit to the Virginia Holocaust Museum will remind us
all that our work must continue.
