Albemarle human remains identified as missing Fluvanna man

Albemarle police announced that human remains discovered May 7 have been identified as a Fluvanna man who disappeared in 2004.

Police said the remains were discovered May 7 near Keene. The individual who discovered the remains notified Albemarle police, who recovered them and sent them to the Medical Examiner's Office.

The Medical Examiner's Office has positively identified the remains as those of Jesse Hicks, who was reported missing in 2004 from Fluvanna County. The case into the disappearance and death of Jesse Hicks has been reopened and is actively being investigated by the Albemarle County Police Department in coordination with Fluvanna County Sheriff's Office.
