Developing: Police searching for stabbing suspect

Good morning from Gray. Here's a look at some of the stories you will want to catch before you leave the house on 12 News Today.

Breaking overnight: Richmond police are looking for the person who they say slashed a man in the face. This happened around 1 this morning at the Midlothian Inn. That's on Midlothian Turnpike near Carnation Street in South Richmond.

In just a few hours, supporters and opponents of same-sex marriage will set their eyes on a Federal Appeals Court in Richmond.  A three-judge panel of the 4th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals will hear arguments today on a lower court's ruling striking down Virginia's ban on gay marriage. Leaders of gay-rights organizations in North Carolina, South Carolina and West Virginia say a ruling upholding the Virginia decision could affect their states.

Thousands of parents across the country are trying to stop  their children from taking state tests. That movement is surfacing here in Richmond, right now. Parents across RVA are considering taking their child out of the SOL exams.

Plus, this morning The University of Richmond community is finalizing funeral plans for two of the victims of the deadly hot air balloon crash. We will update you on the investigation.
