RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) - Three people wanted in connection with the shooting death of an employee during the robbery of a downtown Richmond jewelry store earlier this week were arrested in North Carolina, according to sources. A fourth suspect was arrested Wednesday night.

The two suspects were charged with conspiracy to commit murder. Sources said more charges are expected.

Muhammad H. Baig, 29, was found shot and killed inside Victoria Jewelers at 309 East Broad Street around 4 p.m. Monday, according to detectives. Police believe Baig was killed by thieves.

Less than 24 hours after Baig's death, his wife gave birth to a baby girl. The couple already has an 18-month-old.

The shooting in broad daylight came just a day after a cycling championship race brought crowds to the area. However, police are calling this an isolated incident and said public should be cautious but not alarmed.

Sources said other jurisdictions are involved in the investigation. Those authorities are looking into whether these suspects are responsible for crimes in other localities.

Detectives ask anyone with information about this crime to call Crime Stoppers at (804) 780-1000.
