Celebration of life held for Chesterfield teenager

Friends and loved ones of an 18-year-old Chesterfield student packed a memorial service Tuesday in honor of the teen killed in a weekend car crash. Relatives of Tyler Patnaude called the event "a celebration of life."

Those who attended the two-hour service described it as emotional but upbeat. Tyler's mother said in a statement that she didn't want the memorial to be considered a funeral, adding that loved ones did not wear black because, "It's not a dark time." Those who gathered Tuesday focused on all of the good memories they shared with the teen before his sudden death in a car crash last Friday.

Relatives say the teen donated his organs and as a result, some 100 people can benefit because he was healthy. The memorial comes days after some 100 Cosby High students and loved ones gathered to pay tribute to the teenager at a candlelight vigil.

According to a Facebook page created in his memory, Tyler's loved ones will gather again this weekend -- this time in Texas for another memorial honoring a young man loved by so many.

Officers are still investigating the crash that claimed Patnaude's life.
