Family of Richmond double homicide victim demands justice

RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) -

As Richmond police continue to investigate last week's double homicide, grief sparked a loved one's medical emergency, Monday evening. Relatives of one of the victims, Ebony Hurd, say a close friend went into a seizure during a vigil, just blocks from where the double shooting happened. Emergency responders rushed into the home where the friend had the seizure. Ultimately, family members say the woman is doing okay.

Ebony Hurd's family struggled to cope during the emotional tribute, after she and another man, Ivan Bridges, were both shot in a car, last Wednesday. Ebony's family is demanding justice.

"I want answers, and I need them right now," said Darlene Jackson, one of Ebony's four sisters.

Darlene refuses stand by quietly, as her sister's killer is still at large. "I want justice for my sister."

Ebony Hurd and a family friend, Ivan Bridges, were shot to death while sitting in his car, on Mimosa Street. The anguish of ebony's three children was evident, as they clung tightly to one another.

"She always kept her kids with her. Her kids were her number one priority," continued Darlene.

"She was an awesome mother, and awesome friend. Whoever did this- they need to pay," added Shanundrea McGriff, Ebony's close friend.

Ebony's family says she was a nurse, who didn't have any enemies. They say they're stunned as to why this deadly shooting happened.

Sources tell NBC12 that two different types of shell casings were found at the scene, and that no guns were recovered. Police are actively searching for leads and suspects. If you know anything, call Crime Stoppers at 804-780-1000.

The victims' families are requesting that anyone who wishes to contribute to the funeral funds, should kindly deliver donations directly to the funeral homes. Ebony Hurd's service is being performed by Mimms Funeral Home on Hull Street. Ivan Bridges' service will be at Joseph Jenkins Jr. Funeral Home on Garland Avenue.
