PRINCE GEORGE, VA (WWBT) - Prince George County police are looking for a person of interest after a woman was found dead Friday afternoon. Police say, they want to speak with 42-year-old Alana Cole.
According to her driver's license, Cole has the same address as the victim but investigators say, it's unclear how the two are related to each other.
Officers arrived at a home in the 1300 block of Marl Bank Drive just before 4 p.m. Friday. There, police say a woman in her 60's was found stabbed to death. The victim's adult daughter made the gruesome discovery.
"I'm sure it was just a visit to mom," said Prince George County Police Chief Ed Frankenstein. "Then the discovery was made.
Police officers used K-9s to try and track Cole but because of the rain, the search was called off. Instead, investigators went door to door in the neighborhood asking if anyone had seen her.
Police continued their search efforts overnight, concentrating solely on the neighborhood where both the victim and person of interest lived. Officers say, Cole didn't have transportation of her own and that it's likely she fled the scene on foot.
Officers also stayed parked in front of the victim's home in case Cole returned.
We spoke to one resident who said, he hadn't seen Cole that day but that he often sees her walking in the neighborhood.
"She walks a lot," said neighbor Ron Dunn. "Sometimes she talks to you, sometimes she doesn't. It doesn't seem like she's all there."
If you have any information on this woman's whereabouts, call police.
