Hundreds show support for Petersburg family found dead in home

There was a strong show of support as friends and family gathered to remember the victims. "Citizens against Crime" held an emotional vigil to honor the victims Thursday night. One of those victims was just two years old.

This is a crime that hit this community hard, evident by the hundreds who gathered simply to say they care.

"My help cometh from the Lord," a Prince George pastor sang as people in the crowd fought tears.

The song of inspiration helped heal the wounds.

"We love you. We'll miss you," attendees repeated while holding candles.

At the vigil held outside the home where the four relatives died, Petersburg gathered in force.

"I couldn't fathom in my mind anything like this happening to them," said Vincent Harris.

He had just spoken to his 67 year old aunt days before the tragedy.

"She was a loving and caring person. Vicki was outgoing. Missy hadn't really begun her life. She was only 22 years old. Then we deal with Var who was only a 2 year old child," Harris recalls.

That's what hurts so many here the most.

"He is in the gracious hands of the Lord," said neighbor Jeremy Jones.

As police investigate who is responsible, many have strong feelings.

"This man should be put to death, killed on site because he has killed on site," Jones said.

Right now there is no suspect, but there is faith - a family in mourning will get through the pain.

"We know nothing is too hard for you," a minister led the crowd in prayer.

As the family prepares to lay their loved ones to rest Saturday, they say getting through their grief is just a little easier with the community coming together.
