Bon Air meeting scheduled to discuss improvements to community

Bon Air residents are getting a chance to have a say in how their community looks. Whether that means improvements to an intersection of the recruitment of a certain style of business, this meeting is designed as a chance for residents to express those wishes.

Several residents and local shoppers already have ideas about how Bon Air could be even better.

"I just would like to see a little bit more community activity," said Melinda  Rokosz, a Bon Air Resident  "And, then I'd like to see also some kind of a women's group."

"I think bike roads would make it a lot safer," added Steve Leonard. "You go down here on Jahnke Road, there's nowhere to go."

"A lot of people that want to walk and they cant' walk in the street," said Marjorie Cheatham, who shops frequently in the area. "And they need a place to walk."

Also mentioned, were a dog park or coffee shop. The wish list is part of a bigger plan in Chesterfield to improve smaller communities within the larger county. Officials started by taking a look at how to improve Ettrick. Now, they're turning their attention to Bon Air.

"We're going to be taking down ideas on maps," said Joanne Simmelink, a planner for Chesterfield County. "You can put in anything that you see as an issue or an opportunity within an area."

The public workshop will be held Thursday, April 24, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. in the Bon Air Elementary School cafeteria.
