HANOVER, VA (WWBT) -

An 84-year-old Mechanicsville man faces reckless driving charges after he hit the gas instead of the brake pedal and drove his car into a Wells Fargo bank branch, according to sheriffs.

The driver wasn't injured, nor were any customers when the car crashed into the bank branch in the Brandy Hill Shopping Center around 10:20 a.m. Tuesday morning, according to Hanover sheriffs. One worker suffered a very minor injuries, according to bank officials.

The branch will remain closed Tuesday, but bank managers hope it will be back open Wednesday. Repairs will continue until next week. The building didn't suffer any structural damage and repairs will cost between $20,000 and $30,000, according to sheriffs.
