Sources: Richmond Police on high alert at mayor's house

RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) - Police are on high alert, watching the mayor's house after a post found on a website.

Sources say officers from Richmond's second precinct on the south side will be checking the mayor's house every two hours - if they see any trouble, they are to contact supervisors, who will then get in touch with RPD higher-ups.

This all stems from a post we found on the Wingnut Anarchist Collective website. The group is protesting the privatization of Monroe Park, which was discussed in a heated and controversial city council meeting Monday night.

The Wingnuts have posted the names and home addresses of everyone they believe responsible for the move and are advocating protests and mailings. The list includes the mayor, city council president and top city officials.

Sources also say the officers are only supposed to report the activity to a supervisor and monitor the situation until they get more guidance.
