HENRICO, VA (WWBT) -

Henrico police are searching for three suspects they say stabbed a man waiting at a bus stop.

The incident happened near the intersection of Darbytown Road and Henrico Arms Place just before midnight Monday.

"Usually at night, if I'm catching the bus, I'm carrying some mace so I'm usually protected," said Gina Boswell, who takes the bus to work every day. After hearing of the stabbing near her bus stop, she's taking steps to be more cautious.

Police say the victim was taken to the hospital and treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

"It's dangerous, and they need to put more lighting out here, because the summertime getting ready to come around and kids getting ready to come out here," said Shiquita Reed, who admits the neighborhood has its problems.

Tasheda Scott lives across the street from the bus stop. She used to ride the bus often but doesn't plan to ride any more.

"If it happens once, it can happen again. What if I'm by myself, standing there with my son with my pocket book. You don't know when it's going to happen," Scott said.

Police are investigating but have no leads at this time. Boswell says she will keep her eyes open from now on and suggest others do the same.

"If you can catch the bus with somebody else, try to catch the bus with somebody else," Boswell said.
