Prosecutors for the Samantha Myers murder case now say that two of the suspects face first degree murder charges.
20-year-old Samantha Myers was found dead in a ravine off North Hopkins Road last month. Police say she died from blunt force trauma to the head, but her body was found weeks after she had been killed.
Police say Myers stepsister, Yvette Hairston, 40, originally confessed to killing Myers; they now believe Yvette's daughter, Selena Hairston, 21, and Selena's boyfriend Jamarr Rodney Hursey, 25, are responsible for Myer's death.
Selena Hairston and Jamarr Hursey are now indicted on first degree murder charges. They are also facing the original conspiracy charges.
Yvette Hairston is still charged with the original second degree murder charge, but prosecutors are not planning to move forward with that at the current time. She had been indicted for concealing a dead body and an obstruction of justice charge of concealing or moving evidence.
Arraignments have not been set yet. A competency hearing has been ordered for Yvette Hairston. There will be a status hearing on April 18.
