WV animal control officer shoots dog several times in 'botched euthanization'

It's being called a 'botched euthanization' - an animal control officer in Fayette County, WV is being disciplined after he shoots a dog several times to euthanize it.

According to NBC affiliate WVVA, animal control officer Russell Parker shot the dog so it could be tested for rabies. He said there was no one available at the time who was licensed to euthanize animals, and the dog had bit a child.

The director of the Animal Control Center filed a complaint on Thursday, saying the owner of the dog had paid the veterinarian hospital to humanely euthanize the animal.
