Breaking: man shot and killed in car

 

Good morning from Gray. Here's a look at some of the stories you will want to catch before you leave the house on 12 News Today.

Richmond police are investigating the city's latest homicide. Just before midnight--police responded to a call for shots fired on Patrick Avenue--  that's on the city's Northside. Once on scene--officers found a male victim, believed to be in his thirties who had been shot inside a car. He died at the scene.

Breaking overnight--search crews report two more pings in the Indian Ocean as they look for signs of the missing Malaysian plane.

Plus, the investigation continues today into the second deadly shooting at a military base in less than two weeks.  Marine is in custody after military officials say he shot and fatally wounded a colleague with his M4 rifle at the main gate of a North Carolina base. Camp Lejeune spokesman Nat Fahy says the Marine fired on his colleague Tuesday afternoon in a  guard shack. Fahy says emergency personnel attempted to revive the shooting victim, who was hit by a single shot and later pronounced dead at a base hospital.

The water is back on in Petersburg after a water main break--but residents are still being asked to boil their water. We've also checked and it'll be business as usual for Petersburg schools. If you still have questions, an information hotline will open back up at 6 this morning. The city is also partnering with the South Crater Road Food Lion -- to offer free water, beginning at 8:30 a-m.
