Police: Lakeside homicide victim died from stab wound to neck, torso

HENRICO, VA (WWBT) - New details are emerging about the homicide of a man, found dead in his Lakeside home. Henrico investigators swarmed the victim's house on the 5,900 block of Hermitage Road, Friday night. Henrico police say Roy Fuller, 68, was killed.

Investigators say Fuller was killed by "multiple sharp force injuries" to the neck and torso. They're still trying to figure out a motive as to why someone would want to kill this man. Meantime, people who knew Fuller are in disbelief that someone would take his life.

Police cars lined the block around Fuller's home Friday evening, according to neighbors. Passersby watched as investigators combed the house.

"There were seven police cars in front of the house, and they had blocked it off," said neighbor Erin Roberts. Roberts says she occasionally waved to Fuller, if she saw him outside.

Police are staying tight-lipped about the investigation. Neighbors say Fuller's nephew came to check on him, and discovered his lifeless body.

"It's so difficult to know that because Roy was a really sweet guy," said Linda Behrendt, who lives on the same street as Fuller.

Behrendt has lived down the street from Fuller for 50 years. She says she was friendly with both Fuller and his sister. Behrendt says Fuller lived in this home for the majority of his life. And that he was a quiet man, kind man.

"He was very, very quiet. He only spoke to you if you spoke to him," continued Behrendt.

People who live in Lakeside are unnerved, and want to know why a seemingly amicable man was killed.

"I've lived here approximately 16 years, and nothing like this has ever happened. It's a great neighborhood to live in," added Roberts.

Police are asking the public for any information or leads anyone may have to this case. If you know anything, call Henrico police or Crime Stoppers at 780-1000. Crime Stoppers is anonymous.
