DINWIDDIE, VA (WWBT) -

After one of his high school football practices during his time at Dinwiddie, Ronald Cunningham was riding home, when he spotted a women mowing her lawn. Cunningham asked his mother to stop the car, so he could offer his assistance. This was one of many memories players and coaches shared with each other Monday, less than 24 hours after learning of their former teammates death.

Cunningham, a freshman at St. Augustine's University in Raleigh, North Carolina, passed away Sunday night after collapsing on campus earlier in the day. He was 19-years old.

Monday Dinwiddie head coach Billy Mills and junior defensive back Denzel Williams spoke to NBC12 about the former Generals' lineman. Both remember his smile and his concern for others over himself. Mills said Cunningham was a player and a person who other players would emulate. Williams says he'll play next season in his former teammate's memory.

Funeral services for Ronald Cunningham will be held Friday at 2:30pm at First Baptist Church in Petersburg.
