Man drowns in apartment pool

MESA, AZ (CBS5) -

A 24-year-old man drowned in an apartment complex swimming pool, according to the Mesa fire department.

Captain Dean Morales told CBS 5 News a resident of the Waterstone Apartments at 1651 S. Dobson Road walked past the pool at approximately 3 a.m. and saw the man at the bottom.

Fire crews tried to resuscitate the man but were unsuccessful, and he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Morales said alcohol may have been a factor.

The man has not yet been identified.
