SEMINOLE, FL (WESH) -

A religious rights group is threatening legal action after a Florida family says their five-year-old was told to stop praying in school.

According to NBC affiliate WESH, Marcos and Katherine Perez say cafeteria workers at Carillon Elementary School in Seminole County tried to forbid their kindergartner from saying grace before eating.

Her parents say it violates her First Amendment rights, and the religious group "Liberty Institute of Texas" has sent a letter to the district, saying "the school has no right to suppress a child's free exercise of religion." They are demanding an apology.

The school district says it has found no evidence the girl's story is true and that until the parents come to talk with the school principal, the investigation is stalled.
