Richmond police look at possible triple shooting connection

Posted: Updated:
RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) -

Richmond police are investigating a possible connection between a triple shooting that left a 7-year-old hospitalized and another shooting just a week earlier.

Three people were shot outside of Fine Food convenience store at Government and Williamsburg Roads back on On February 18. Richmond police say the intended target was an adult male, but caught in the crossfire were a woman and a 7-year-old boy. All three victims are recovering.

People in the Fulton Hill neighborhood are on edge because no arrests have been made, but police say it's crucial they get the community's help.

At a meeting in Calvary Methodist Monday night, Fulton Hill residents asked to meet with police for answers. But police say they need answers too.

"Anybody who saw something, heard something please come forward and let us know," said Lt. James Laino with Richmond Police. "Let the police know."

Lt. Laino said investigators are looking at a possible connection between the triple shooting and shots fired between two groups of people behind a Family Dollar store on Williamsburg Road on February 11.

"We believe that was an argument that had been ongoing," said Lt. Laino.

Investigators believe at least one suspect from the Family Dollar shooting may be tied to the triple shooting but they need Fulton Hill's help.

Richmond Police say no matter how small the information you might have seems, they need to hear from you. You can call Crime Stoppers anonymously at 780-1000.
