Time difference not a factor come game day for the Gamecocks

Posted: Updated:

SEATTLE (WIS) The USC women's basketball team is ready to dance.

The Gamecocks are prepping for what many expected to be a very deep run in the NCAA Women's Tournament.

The Gamecocks are a No. 1 seed in the Stanford region and this is their third straight NCAA tournament

Playing some hangman in the locker room sure lightens up the mood before practice however, the message is clear: execution.

South Carolina understands the focus needs to pick up as they'll play for the first time in 15 days Sunday.

"It's been a long time since we played," said sophomore point guard Khadijah Sessions. "But we are ready; we've been taking every practice like we approach a game. We want to win a championship, so I think we are going to be ready."

Being dialed in mentally is one thing, physically it's another.

The team arrived late in Seattle Friday night and it's a quick turnaround for tomorrow's game.

Add a three hour time difference from the east to west coast and exhaustion could set in.

"We are not even going to let it into our minds," said head coach Dawn Staley. "Basketball is basketball, so we have to approach it as in another city, another time zone. But when you tip it up we are not going to be thinking about the time difference."

Game time between USC and No. 16 seed Cal State Northridge is at 5:30 p.m. eastern time.
